Braha's scoring ability is one of the best in DBL history. After setting the DBL record for most points in a game (51), his skillset has allowed his teammates to prosper since he is always the primary focus of the defense. It's no question his team is simply at their best when he is on the floor. A scoring title seems imminent for Braha but it's the win column that will be most important in this case. His superb talent has kept him consistently at the top of our MVP race.
Mid-Season Analysis: If Braha can continue his scoring input and catapult his team into one of the top 3 or 4 ranked squads, he will remain the odds on favorite to win the award.
The reason Mann is atop the MVP race is for one sole purpose, when he is on the floor, his team wins. From rebounding and being an absolute presence in the middle, to being able to score the ball and collapse a defense, his skillset is unique and dominant. It's no question he is one of the best Centers in the league, the only question would be his availability/if he can stay healthy throughout the season. His doninant play is what keeps him at the top of the MVP race.
Mid-Season Analysis: Mann is without a doubt the most well rounded big man in the league, if he stays healthy and can secure the 1 seed, he will be heavily favorited.
Sigoura hones the most dynamic skillset and potential in recent league memory. Combine that with his jaw dropping athletic ability and you have a nightmare for any defense. But his play has propelled his squad to the upper echelon of teams in the league pouring in multiple 20+ point performances in each of his teams victories. The scary part is, it seems he hasn't evens scratched the surface of his ceiling.
Mid-Season Analysis: In his first DBL season, Sigoura has proven that he has the ability play both sides of the ball equally efficient. It is clear he is one of the best 2 way players in our league, if he can pour in consistent excellent performances and key wins, he will be a front runner for MVP honors.
In his first season, Chehebar was able to reach the mountain top of DBL, capturing his first title and being one of the few to accomplish this feat as a rookie. But that seems to be old news, he has now started his sophomore season off with a 34-point performance along with other outstanding offensive games. The key for him will be his defensive play and being able to get it done on both sides of the ball. Due to his offense and recent team success alone, he remains on MVP watch.
Mid-Season Analysis: Coming off a season where Chehebar won a title and played really well, it's clear he's growing into a fine young player. We'd like to see his defensive efforts also take the same incline if he would like to get to the top of this list.
There's a lot to love about Smeke's game. Pure scorer, lanky defender, and the second he crosses half court instantly becomes the defenses focus. He can light it up from anywhere there's no doubt and he's got the engine to do it for 40 minutes straight. This being his first year as a captain, he'll have a chance to showcase to the league what he's really about, his team will go as far as he can take them.
Mid-Season Analysis: Arguably one of the most pure scorers in DBL, Smeke is an extremely tough guard for any defender. The only question you can really ask is regarding his leadership ability. Can he rally his troops when the clock gets low and the score is tight, can he will his team to a deep playoff run. That remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain, he'll need to capture a top seed with his current squad to be considered for MVP honors.
Kassin possesses the ability that many don't, and that is the conviction to win a game by any means necessary. He's got a fiery play style which is exciting to watch and dangerous if you're the opposing defense. He's got the tools to score and guard the oppositions best player, there's no doubt. But consistency is the key here with Kassin. If he finds a way to pour in more 25+ point performances while also contributing tremendously on defense, I like his chances at an MVP honors.
Mid-Season Analysis: Consistency, consistency, consistency. That's the only reason Kassin isn't at the top of this list. When Mann went down, the reigns fell to Kassin where his team relies upon him to carry the load. After dropping a Week 4 matchup to Happy Tails, Kassin must bounce back and play really well to regain the spotlight.
Elimelech, or Mamba as many call him, is one of the few MVP candidates that you can consider a true basketball savant. His sweet jumper is good from anywhere on the floor along with his nifty ball handling. His slow and crafty pace makes it tough to guess where he's going to take his defender, but it's his mind that separates him from the rest. He understands the game deeply and seems to understand the X's and O's better than most. He's got the leadership and offensive ability like no other, he'll need to step up his game and be more assertive for his team and to be considered as the MVP.
Mid-Season Analysis: It seems like Elimelech hasn't missed a shot all season, he'll need to get more aggressive on the offensive side for his teams sake and to take the leap over other MVP candidates.
Sutton quite literally has the ability to be a top three player in the league. He's clearly one of the best players in league history already and possesses the ability to take over a game at will which many lack. He's got a raw and unfiltered emotion which makes him the most dangerous player to guard when he decides to get crafty. From mid air shot changes to creative reverse off hand layups, he's got the full package. Sutton is what you'd consider a true dawg on the court. His availability for his squad will be key as they enter the ladder part of the season. If Sutton can implement his aggression and assertiveness for a full game like he does down the stretch in most battles, it will catapult his squad to the top as well as his name on this list.
Mid-Season Analysis: He's got that eye for greatness and seems cool and collect under any situation, he'll need to assert his aggression for the entirety of the game going forward to be considered as the MVP.
Zekaria's recent ability to play-make and set his teammates up to be in successful scoring positions each game has kept him consistently at the top of our MVP race.
Pre-season: Zekaria's jump shot is as sweet as his profile picture. He can light it up from anywhere on the court and will now be at the helm of his own team as he looks to assert his prolific scoring ability.
You can't mention the Rushmore Construction team this season without mentioning Avi Shemueli. In numerous occasions, when the game is tight, he always seems to have an answer whether that be diving for game clinching steals, or knocking down buzzer beater thrillers. Combine this with his scoring output, and you have yourself one heck of a season all while owning the 2nd best record in the league.
Cytryn has been on a heater! Pouring in 20 and 26 point games as of late! He has a been the most consistent scoring option for Dynamic Capital this season. It is clear that on a team with a variety of scoring options, Cytryn is currently the 1A and will look to make his case for MVP this season. He
Although he slid down the MVP race, Epstein has the ability to jump to the top at an instance. In his first week, he managed to pour in 18 points and 7 boards. But he is at his best when he is able to play make for his teammates which we will see in the coming weeks.
Pre-season: In his first DBL season he led his team to a finals appearance, now, a year later, Epstein makes his return with high expectations as one of the most pure scoring/passing guards DBL has seen. He will look to recapture his once had glory in the upcoming season.
In his first game back, Mann poured in a stellar 18 points and 12 rebounds leading his team in both categories. He is one of the few candidates to do so, keeping him at the top of the MVP race.
Pre-season: Mann is no stranger to predictions like these. While he did miss last season due to injury, he is without a doubt the most all around big man in the league and will cause nightmares for defenses.
With the most raw talent out of the new DBL rookie class, Tobias gets it done on BOTH ends of the court. His recent performance has slid him down the race, however it would come as a shock to no one if he found himself the top 3 by next week.
Pre-season: Without a doubt, Tobias has earned the most excitement out of any player this upcoming season, and that is fully warranted. While his offsenive game continues to flourish, he also provides a defensive bravado which makes him one of the most well rounded players in DBL history. While a longer shot, he just may shock the league and earn the MVP Honors.
Alboucai just may be the best rebounding center in DBL history. Combine that with his efficient paint scoring, and you have the most dominant center in the league. His recent play has proven just that!
Pre-season: Arguably the most dominant player in DBL, Alboucai poses a threat to any man that takes the challenge to guard him. His offensive post game and rebounding on both sides is consistently unstoppable. Alboucai also looks to climb over that mountain top and earn another finals appearance.
In his first game back, Yefet managed to pour a whopping 34 points and add in 10 boards to go along with a dominant victory.
Pre-season: Coming off a season where Yefet averaged just over 25 PPG, he is a prime candidate for MVP and will look to put the league on notice that this was no fluke. His microwave like ability to get hot in a moments notice is like no other. He enters as this years top candidate for MVP.
